Choice of Instrument
I have just purchased a new trumpet and am totally hooked. It is the Callet SIMA. Mine is finished in gold lacquer. I cannot believe how good this instrument is. The notes just seem to come from the bell with total ease, lovely sound and unparalleled intonation. I thought my yamaha 8310Z was excellent but the Callet SIMA is in another class again. I absoultely love it and highly recommend it - wonderful.

Hello David thanks so much for sharing all this information with us.
I am currently playing a Smith Watkin Artiste Cornet and am having some problems moving to this method.
Have you any ideas on mouth piece / lead pipe combinations which could work?
No one I have spoken to seems to have any ideas so I am hoping you [even though you play a totally different instrument] may have some pointers.
Thanks so much
Aitkin
Hello,
I owned a Smith Watkins B flat trumpet for quite a number of years and only recently sold it for my new Eclipse. It had interchangeable leadpipes and I purchased 4 of them ranging from smallest to largest; sizes 10, 12, 32 and 38 (largest). I found that the size 10 (smallest used for lead playing) worked best for me, and ended up using it for both lead and classical with the superchops embouchure. I suspect a small leadpipe would work well for you too on your cornet. The smaller leadpipe facilitates the use of less air and hence is more suitable to this method of playing. I don't know what mouthpiece would suit a cornet but suggest you contact Jerome on that one.
All the best,
David.
